Hi, I’m Sasha. So happy you joined me here! I created this space because I’m passionate about women’s health and wellbeing. After receiving a diagnosis in 2015 of adenomyosis, I set forth on a mission to balance my hormones and optimize my health naturally.
All too often, women are told that the only means of achieving hormonal wellbeing is to take the birth control pill. Rather than addressing the core issue, all this does is replace your natural hormones with synthetic ones, therefore covering up what’s really creating the imbalance in the first place.
When I was on the pill as a very young woman, I felt disconnected from my body and my emotions. It was as though some other force other than myself was controlling my moods, my energy, and my perception of the world.
I wanted to come off of it, but I was scared. I had relied on it for close to a decade and wasn’t sure what life would be like without it.
Then I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and everything shifted. I felt empowered to release my dependency on the pill and instead, get to know my cycle intimately. Doing so was one of the most educational experiences of my adult life. I was actually shocked at how little I knew about the functioning of my body – how little we’re actually taught unless we seek it out!
Since then, I’ve been in awe of the brilliant mechanism of the female reproductive system. Going off the pill was hugely freeing, and I had no problems at all until I reached the age of 35.
At that point I started to develop severe symptoms of pain and heavy bleeding during my period – Something I had been free of virtually my whole life. This is what led me to the doctor, and to my diagnosis. She wanted me to go back on the pill. I wanted to find another way.
Though already living a very “clean” life, I learned that my body was extra sensitive to estrogen dominance, so I had to get even cleaner, even more conscious. I devoted myself to getting more in tune with my body’s needs and uncovering the mysteries of what was causing this condition.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve learned so much about living an anti-inflammatory, non-toxic, and blood sugar balanced life. That may sound boring, but it’s far from it. I see it as an adventure! An adventure in creating hormonal harmony.
